The old village is a maze of little streets leading to the Courtine, a square at the top of the hill near the mansion where the Dauphin, future King Louis 11th, stayed.
Without realising, you have crossed two town walls, the second being the fortifications of the castle built around 985. This castle was already in ruins in the 17th century.
Should you end up at the Portail Blanc, close to two bakers' shops, you will be at the starting point of a historical trail; you will certainly have noticed the signs while wandering through the old streets. Those with enquiring minds will retrace their steps to find out more. Lose yourself in the labyrinth of Sauzet's streets!
