Saint Marcel les Sauzet
The Saint Marcel bell-tower roof slopes gently at the same angle as the hillsides of theTrois Becs (Three Beaks) Mountains in the distance, as though the Cluny Benedictine monks in the 12th century were inspired by the countryside.
But the monks did not just meditate. They built what is considered today the most remarkable romanesque church in the Marsanne district, so remarkable in fact that it has been listed as an historic monument since 1846. The streets are narrow,we recommend you visit the village centre on foot. At the first crossroads you can see a wahing place, with the Bacchus of the mill fountain opposite.
