In spring the lavender fields are coloured a soft green, but when summer arrives they are a fragrant, swaying sea of a thousand shades of blues and mauves. After the harvest a gentle perfume lingers for some weeks, and the Lavender bushes take on a greyish blue hue for the winter. Around Montelimar the Lavender blooms from early June to the end of August, and Lavendin generally blooms from mid-June to end of July.. |

The wines of the Coteaux du Tricastin are produced in an area bordered by the Rhône, Grignan and St. Paul Trois Chateaux. The grape varieties Syrah, Grenache, Carignan, Cinsault and Mourvèdre produce red and rosé wines, whilst the varieties Marsanne, Roussanne, Viognier, White Grenache and Clairette produce white wines. |
